Immersive Arts Bootcamp

A 12-week bootcamp teaching Immersive Skills using Unreal Engine

Our Immersive Arts Bootcamp: Immersive Development is designed for creative practitioners to develop their existing digital skills to enhance their career pathway within the creative digital industries.

This is an intermediate skill level bootcamp for participants aged 19+

Bring your creative project to life using Unreal Engine

This course equips students with the essential skills to develop interactive and visually compelling immersive experiences using Unreal Engine 5. Participants will develop 3D skills in Unreal Engine 5 and Blender and focus on industry-standard workflows, integrating AI content generation and virtual production suitable for VR, gaming, extended reality and immersive arts projects.

This course is free and made possible through funding from WMCA, however participants must live within the West Midlands. Places are limited, and priority is given to applicants who are unemployed or under-employed, from a Government Priority Place within the West Midlands, from an ethnic minority, neurodivergent or have another disability.

Over 100 hours of guided training

Through this programme, participants’ professional portfolios will be improved and developed whilst working with our industry team.

Participants are required to complete 100 hours of guided training over 12 weeks which culminates in an Immersive Arts Bootcamp Showcase which will allow students the opportunity to share their projects and network with the creative and immersive industry.

The goal of this bootcamp is to help participants gain new skills and reach positive outcomes through career advancement and job opportunities following the course.

Immersive Development

This year, we’re including new modules to cover AI and virtual production. With the rise of AI, we’ll be looking at how it can be used as a tool to improve workflow for virtual production and game development.

Learn more about virtual production and with access to our virtual production suite, you’ll learn how to blend physical and virtual worlds in real time, master motion capture technology and explore performance capture to bring digital characters to life.

These cutting-edge technologies will enable participants to create more dynamic and realistic immersive experiences.

BOM’s industry team will support participants with introductions to key people from industry through individual and bespoke career pathway programmes with the aim to secure promotions and paid work opportunities for all participants.

Important Information

  • This is an intermediate skill level course
  • Each participant must commit to 100 hours of training under WMCA funding requirements.
  • Due to WMCA funding requirements, your eligibility will depend on your postcode.
  • If you are employed or self-employed, we may require proof of employment to meet WMCA requirements.
  • This course is free and fully funded by WMCA and requires all participants to gain a positive outcome following the course, including new job opportunities or workplace advancements.
